Lenten Services, 2012
As in the past years, the Church of the Brethren is holding Lenten Services to commemorate the sacrifice Christ made on Calvary's Cross and to celebrate His conquest over death.

This year's Lenten services commence 7 pm on February 26 and conclude 7 pm on March 25. It is important that we as a church make a concerted effort to offer our support by attending as many services as possible and to share our faith in fellowship with other families from our sister churches. If you would like to carpool to any of the Lenten services, please sign up on the bulletin board.  The services are listed on the "Lenten Services" page, under "News & Events."
Knitting
A knitting group meets at Rebecca's 7-9:30 every Tuesday evening. In recess until after Easter.  All welcome.

Softball

Our softball league practices on Wednesday evenings and plays, usually at Davenport Park in the summer months. Tournaments are in mid-August. Justin Beaty coached last year.

Quilting

The fine art of quilting has not been lost at our church. Quilters are welcome, and so are learners. The quilting quality is very fine, following the rules of keeping stitches very small and even. This group meets weekly, and eat a carry-in lunch together. The work goes quickly as conversation flies. The Quilting Group takes orders, and you may put your quilt on the list to be quilted by them. For charges, consult the quilting group. You are responsible also for the cost of the batting, which they are willing to purchase for you. They have orders for years ahead, so get your order in quickly. Baby comforters for $25 are also available. Contact the church by e-mail or phone for times of meeting.

Inspiration Hills Camp

See this years camp schedule under "Youth"

The Church of the Brethren is blessed to have camp facilities to house our youth.  Inspiration Hills is a 226 acre campground with several natural springs, a swimming lake, and other natural splendors.  It exemplifies the wonders of God's creation.  As such, it is a testimony to God's greatness and his gift in Christ Jesus.  Every summer, we sponsor our youth to attend camp.  Throughout the course of the week children have the privilege of embracing firsthand the wonders of God while at the same time experiencing and enjoying the many benefits and blessings from His creative workings such as fishing, hiking and swimming.

Vacation Bible School

Dates and plans for this year's VBS will be announced soon. Let Pastor Paul know if you are willing to help.

Each summer we host a week of Vacation Bible School.  Our purpose is to teach the children from both the church and community about the love of God made known through His Son Jesus Christ.  Throughout the week, the children enjoy looking and listening to skits and learning new songs; creating crafts as well as competing in games and partaking in food and fellowship.  Each year there is a project for the children to work towards. This year they put together school kits with the money they collected. At our Vacation Bible School wrap-up during the morning of our Sunday Service, children are recognized for their participation.

Church picnics:
We have a picnic around Memorial Day and another one the beginning of September.  People are asked to bring a covered dish and table service. The Memorial Day picnic will be May 30, 1 pm, at Esther and Harold Echelberry's home on Eastland. Bring a covered dish, table service, drink and chair.

Communion:
Communion is offered several times a year with a Love Feast, feet washing and communion on Maundt Thursday. On every fifth Sunday there is Lafiya, prayer and anointing during the church service.

Prayer Vigil

This year's prayer vigil will be Sunday evening, September 16, 2012. This is the Sunday closest to International Day of Peace, September 21.
