Thanks
Thanks from the Turner family for all your help with donations (toys and grocery items) to make Christmas a little brighter for a number of Mexican mission families.

On Dec 23, 2011, the members of the Victoria Palms Community Church and Mabel’s Free Clinic visited the colonia known as the “18th of March” in Nuevo Progreso, Mexico to pass out bags of groceries and a laundry basket full of presents to 30 families including about 60 children. Every child got a gift picked for them and wrapped in Christmas paper!  Santa Claus was there too!

Several members of Eastwood Church contributed to this effort. Victoria Palms Church was so generous in their contributions that we were able to go to another colonia, “La Posta”, and pass out more food and gifts.

Dick Turner of Victoria Palms, the newly appointed administrator of Mabel’s Free Clinic said that the project was a great success and a heart- warming one as well.

Going to Nuevo Progreso were Judy and Nora Turner, and Santa Claus, also known as Rudy, our maintenance man at the clinic and his wife, Mrs. Claus (also known as Graciola).

A heartfelt thanks to everyone who helped wrap presents,  bake cookies, and gave us everything we needed to give these people a truly Merry Christmas
Thanks from Witness and Missions
Thanks to all who contributed to the Hat and Mitten Tree. We were able to collect 95 hats and mittens, 48 scarves and gloves as well as 3 pair of socks which were all given to local groups in the area who help those people in need.
Thanks You Letters
Letters of thanks for our contributions over the Christmas season are on the bulletin board from Good Neighbors and Open M.
Thanks from Warnicks and Nolt's

Witness Food Bin:
We donate groceries regularly to OPEN-M and Good Neighbors, as well as giving away bags ourselves. We had been doing a regular monthly bread giveaway. The Witness Bin next to the bulletin board, is a box for food items. This is an on-going program of collecting canned goods and staples (non-perishables please), which go to our various community soup kitchens. Approximately once a month items are collected and distributed. Please see Leone Gindlesperger.
Fundraisers
Campbell's labels:  Please remember to bring in your Campbell's labels for Inspiration Hills. The container is on the welcome center in the lounge.
Recycling bin:  Also, we continue to collect newspaper, phone books, junk mail, office papers, etc. in the bin in the parking lot.  Thanks for your help!
ACME tapes:  February 11 is the deadline for collecting ACME tapes as a fundraiser for the church.  ACME gives cash back to the church for certain items purchased. Thanks to all who participated!

Wanted: Kairos Kookies by March 23

Gary Myers is active in the Kairos Ministry. He goes into prisons and takes cookies with him to give to the men.  Usually 6,000 cookies are needed for a typical Kairos weekend.  Homemade cookies are a tangible expression of Christian love and an indication of God’s concern for a group of people who seldom encounter either in the course of their daily lives.  Your loving sacrifice will provide “bread” that shines the Light of God’s Grace into the darkest corners of a prison unit.  May God bless you for the gift of baking!

Best choices: oatmeal, oatmeal raisin, peanut butter, Rice Krispie Squares, brownies, molasses, chocolate chip, ginger, snickerdoodles and sugar.  Cookies should be between 2”-2-1/2” in diameter and not more than 1/2” thick.   Do not use icing, sugar or any other type of coating on the outside of the cookie.  Do not add any kind of fruit to the cookies other than raisins.  Pack in gallon sized zip locked bags, 2 dozen to a bag.  Pray that each  cookie brings the inmate, officer or warden who eats it closer to God.  We want every person to become part of the family of God.
